While checking to see if local bookstores already have The Toll, I realized that I missed posting about the 2nd installment of the Arc of the Scythe. Months after the selection process in Scythe, Citra and Rowan fight the moral decline in the Scythedom in very different ways. Citra as Scythe Anastasia tries to imbue her gleaning with compassion, while Rowan as vigilante Scythe Lucifer attempts to cull out corrupt scythes. The battles are fought differently by the myriad characters that populate its pages but the war remains the same, with the fighting under the watchful eye of the Thunderhead, its thoughts joining the narrative for this installment. Thunder Head never stops being surprising (and even terrifying) until its dramatic end. No wonder I couldn't make a post about it immediately when I reached its end.
